Barbara Billingsley was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 22, 1915. Her parents are Lillian Agenzia and Robert Collyer Combes, a police officer. Barbara is American-born and of mixed ancestry. Barbara’s parents divorced before she was four, and her father eventually remarried an assistant police officer. Billingsley’s mother began working as a machinist at a knitting factory after the divorce.
