Delhi Roots and Early Life
His father, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan, was an independence activist from Peshawar, and his mother, Lateef Fatima, was a magistrate. Shah Rukh studied at St. Columba’s School and earned a degree in economics from Hansraj College, University of Delhi, while learning acting with Barry John’s Theatre Action Group. He lost both parents young — his father in 1981 and his mother in 1991 — and moved to Mumbai soon after to chase a film career.
From Television to the Big Screen
Audiences first met him on television in the army series Fauji (1989). His film debut came with Deewana in 1992, and a run of daring anti-hero roles in Baazigar and Darr (both 1993) quickly made him a star.
