Blake Melbourne’s Early Life 

Blake grew up in Melbourne’s Glen Waverley area. He is the middle child; his older brother Lachlan is a solicitor, and his younger sister Sophie has a degree in the arts. The host’s parents, Noel and Kerry, divorced when he was 17 years old. Later on, the comedian’s father wed a new spouse. Blake says he watched British comedians like Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, and Blackadder as a child. He “worshiped” Mick Molloy and Tony Martin as young adults. Their stage production is based on a trip they took to North Queensland in Blake’s old car. Soon after, they collaborated with Ryan Shelton and several other school pals to produce a program called Radio Karate for RMITV on community-access television station Channel 31. They trained with SYN Radio and soon obtained a drive-time shift. In February 2004, at the first National Community Television Awards, Radio Karate won the Antenna Award for its outstanding comedy program. A month later, Australia’s Seven Network offered them a national comedy program.

On the Today Network, Blake and Lee started their national drive-time radio program Hamish & Andy in 2006. The program gained popularity quickly; by the end of 2006, it had nearly a million Melbourne listeners, outpacing prominent radio broadcaster Derryn Hinch of 3AW. The Blake and Lee show had the highest rating in four of Australia’s five major capital cities as of August 2008. Beginning in 2009, the program is available in the nation’s capital cities and numerous regional centers.

They were scheduled to appear as guests on the Rove McManus-hosted episode of Ten’s Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? in September 2008. They additionally had a guest appearance on the Australian soap drama Neighbours that same year.

Rove presented Hamish and Andy’s one-off episode, titled Hamish & Andy Re-Gifted: A Very Early Christmas Special, on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. This was done to recapture everything they had achieved on Rove in 2008.
