After that American troops occupied the Philippines. After almost hundreds of years, Philippines got its freedom from the United States of America on July 4, 1964. President Diosdado Macapagal declared June 12 as the national holiday and Independence Day of the Philippines On May 12, 1962.

The flag design was originally generated in 1898 the flag is the same till that day and Filipinos still flying proudly today. Inside the flag, there is a white triangle that stands for equality, while the sun inside represents the eight provinces that took up arms against Spain. The blue stripe inside the flag stands for peace, truth, and justice. While the red stripe for patriotism and valor.
