A Complete Breakdown of The ‘Yellowstone’ Dutton Family tree

Although the Dutton family tree appears to be somewhat intricate, it need not be. Fans of Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923 will like this concise account of the ties between James, Jacob, and John Dutton.

At this stage, several assumptions must be made. For instance, the majority of fans think that Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) in 1923 is the father of Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton, although this hasn’t been verified.

Similarly, admirers have seen Chance and Ned Dutton’s tombstones. How they fit into the Dutton family tree is explained by only one reasonable theory, and that theory is a depressing one. We’ll arrive. In a later edition of the Dutton Rules podcast, which you can listen to on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or any other podcast app, all of this will be thoroughly discussed.

How Is James Dutton Related to Jacob Dutton in Yellowstone?

This graphic’s first section describes the relationship between James Dutton (Tim McGraw) from 1883 and Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) from 1923. James’ elder brother is Jacob, as Ford revealed to Taste of Country.

Take note that the boys also had a sister called Claire Dutton (Dawn Olivieri). Claire meets her end in 1883. She is only mentioned as Margaret Dutton’s (Faith Hill) sister-in-law up to that point, but given her last name, Dutton, it is obvious that she is related to James and Jacob.

The other theory is that Clare wed a third Dutton boy, but it doesn’t account for Mary Abel, her late daughter, having a different last name.

Ned and Chance Dutton, who both lived in the middle to late 19th century, had tombstones displayed in early episodes of Yellowstone. We learn from viewing 1883 that neither went to Montana with James and Margaret. Jacob hurried to preserve the family when James passed away, as the first episode of 1923 discloses. It is approximately 1895.

The only plausible explanation for Ned and Chance is that they were the offspring of Jacob and Cara (Helen Mirren), who passed away before to 1923. Since it hasn’t been verified, we’ve classified that as conjecture. They comprise the “white” generation, together with all of James and Margaret’s children.

How Is James Dutton Related to John Dutton Sr. at Yellowstone?

This is where things get tricky since John Dutton Sr. is the name of two distinct persons. The first is the son of James Dutton, portrayed by James Badge Dale in 1923 and Audie Rick in 1883. The second is Dabney Coleman’s portrayal of John Dutton (Costner) in Yellowstone.

These individuals are clearly not the same man, as demonstrated by the third episode of 1923 and basic math. We won’t reveal more since we don’t want to give away anything to those who haven’t seen it yet. Simply have faith in us.

Coleman’s character is most likely the son of Jack Dutton (Mann) for the following reasons. Governor John Dutton is introduced by Jamie Dutton as a fifth-generation rancher in the first episode of Yellowstone Season 5. If John Sr. (Coleman) is James’s great-grandson (McGraw), then that math falls through.

Currently, the other option is that Spencer has a son, and then that boy has another son, but that idea is too speculative to take seriously. Only a fourth generation of ranchers would remain if the second John Sr. (Coleman) was indeed Spencer’s son, eliminating one entire generation. It is not excellent.

Peter Dutton and Patience Dutton: Who Are They?

Peter Dutton is the brother of John Dutton (Costner), who passed away when still a baby (said during Yellowstone Season 5).

A monument for Patience Dutton, a pioneer of the 20th century, is also shown in Season 5. Despite the possibility that Spencer and Alex may have given birth to a daughter, our greatest visitor is really Jack and Elizabeth’s second kid. Both couples have undoubtedly exhibited the type of desire that results in procreation.

Introducing the Seventh Generation Dutton, Tate Dutton:

The teal generation is represented by Tate Dutton, his late baby brother John, and Jamie Dutton’s kid, whose name is unclear, through adoption.

Watchers of 1883 recall a Crow elder informing McGraw’s James Dutton that although he may use the property he was provided to bury his daughter, the tribe would reclaim it after seven generations. Tate Dutton is the seventh generation, and it is the last one until Kayce and Monica have further children.

That’s because Jamie is the family’s bad apple, Lee Dutton passed away, and Beth Dutton is incapable of becoming pregnant. A true plot twist would include John Dutton becoming the father of someone like to Summer Higgins.
