World Orphans Day 2024: History, Quotes, wishes, Messages, Captions

Tragically, countless children around the world have lost their parents to war, famine, migration, sickness, or poverty, among other causes. World Orphans Day, which is observed annually on the second Monday in November, is a special day set aside solely for them to ensure that they are not forgotten.

People are urged to actively participate in helping to raise awareness, support, and financing for motherless and fatherless children globally on this important day in order to bring attention to the issue of the world’s orphans. If there was ever a good cause, this is it!

When is World Orphans Day

November 14th is World Orphans Day, a significant occasion for Americans to unite and demonstrate their concern for the orphans in their society. Numerous young children struggle because one or both of their parents have passed away. It is crucial for the community to make plans for their social, educational, and physical well-being. The ideal time for well-intentioned, socially conscious Americans to demonstrate their support for orphans in their hour of need is on World Orphans Day.

World Orphans Day History

The Romans established the first orphanage in recorded history in 400 AD, becoming the first people to formally care for abandoned children. To maintain orphans until the age of 18, however, was required by both Jewish and Athenian law long before them. Orphans should be given to public guardians, according to the renowned philosopher Plato.

Men ought to be terrified of both the lonely existence of orphans and the spirits of their deceased parents. As if he were his own child, a man ought to care for the unfortunate orphan for whom he is a guardian. He should manage the orphan’s property with the same diligence and care that he does his own, if not even more so.

Later, churches in Medieval Europe took care of orphans. The number of orphans in England at the turn of the 20th century had risen to truly alarming levels, not to mention the frequently horrific and harsh living conditions of the orphaned youngsters. The hardships orphaned children had to experience in orphanages are perfectly captured in “Oliver Twist,” the most well-known book by Charles Dickens.

Researchers today nearly universally agree that orphanages are the worst possible care setting for kids since they don’t get enough attention or physical contact to help them grow.

Due to this, a lot of people—typically Westerners—have chosen to adopt children from developing nations in order to give them a chance at a better life. Unfortunately, this trend has also resulted in numerous scams being carried out on unwary prospective parents, many of whom have paid astronomical sums of money to adopt children who had actually been purchased from their parents for a pittance.

The Stars Foundation established World Orphans Day to draw attention to the vast majority of children who lack something most of us take for granted: parents. The goal of the Stars Foundation was to inspire as many people as possible to lend a hand.

World Orphans Day Activities

As previously stated, anything you can do to assist could mean the world to an unfortunate orphan, so think about what you can do and do it! For instance, you may plan an occasion to raise money. Additionally, you can donate to education programs that give orphans a fresh start in life or sponsor a single child in an orphanage of your choice in a region of the world that is particularly impoverished. This yearly day strives to spread awareness of the various ways to assist orphans to as many people as possible.

In 2017, a number of leaders and activists from the AIDS and ORPHAN communities are urging

AMICAALL is a crucial component of the ICASA agenda, gathering mayors and municipal officials from all across AFRICA to participate. AMICAALL has the desire to care for the orphans left behind by AIDS and a commitment to help eliminate AIDS by 2030 as announced by UNAIDS. As part of its efforts to raise public awareness and advocate for orphans, The Stars Foundation intends to send powerful Ambassadors of Goodwill to the ICASA Conference.

What is said in various scriptures for orphans?

Unfortunately, society often shows neglect and indifference toward orphans.  Due to the absence of a father, they are also deprived of normal human affection in many cases.

As a result, these orphans and orphaned children grow up with a kind of vengeance.  The thought that man is eating food, but is not getting it, gives rise to jealousy.  The thought that others have clothes, and winter protection, but he doesn’t makes one vindictive.  In this, the behavior of these children is distorted.  As a result, they do not trust anyone easily.  They have an interest in destructive activities.

So it becomes very easy for them to kill, rape, rob, and do merciless work.  Even most of them become familiar with drugs in one way or another.  A beautiful future life is destroyed.

For this, it has been asked to pay special attention to orphans.  Someone from among the close relatives should come forward.

In Quran

Many verses and hadiths have been described to protect the rights of orphans and not to deprive them of their rights unjustly.

  • The greatest human being, the Prophet Muhammad, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, was born fatherless and an orphan.  More sadly, his beloved mother also passed away when he was six years old.  He grew up under the tutelage, sustenance, and care of his grandfather and uncle.

In this context, Allah Ta’ala said, did he not find you as an orphan?  Then he gave shelter.” (Surah Addoha: 6)

  • The rights of orphans, their status, and the rewards of kindness to orphans have been described in detail in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith.

Allah Ta’ala directs, and to you, they ask, the provision regarding orphans.  Tell them, it is better to organize their work properly.  And if you mix their expenses with yours, then you will think that they are your brothers.  In fact, Allah knows the ill-wishers and the well-wishers.  Had Allah willed, Allah could have imposed complications upon you.  Verily Allah is the Mighty, the Wise.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 220).

  • Regarding the preservation and return of the wealth of the orphans.

Allah Ta’ala instructs and explains to the orphans their wealth.  Do not exchange good goods for bad goods.  And do not consume their wealth by mixing it with your wealth.  Indeed, this is a very bad deed.” (Surah An-Nisa: 2)

  • As Islam prescribes good treatment of orphans, maintenance of orphan’s property, proper education, and return of property to him at the appropriate age, without all kinds of harm, and overall welfare.  Similarly, harsh and harsh treatment of orphans is strictly prohibited.

Allah says, “So do not be harsh to the orphan.” (Surah Ad-Doha: 9)

There is much more said about orphans in Islam.  Giving love to orphans is said to take responsibility for orphans.  Islam has given a lot of respect to orphans.

In Bible

There are many things also said in Bible about Orphans.

  • Psalm 68:5 tells us, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.” He aims to show orphans mercy, care, and protection, and because these waiting children are essential to him, they should be essential to us as his Church.
  • Deuteronomy 10:18 says, “He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.”
  • James 1:27 says, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
  • Deuteronomy 14:29 says, “And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.”

In Hinduism

“If a boy or child becomes an orphan, the king will specially protect the orphan boy’s wealth by keeping it with himself until the good Veda study comes from Gurugriha to Grihasrama and is converted to family life or until he attains enlightenment.  The king must ensure that no one touches the property of this orphan boy”.
